Therapeutic approach

I offer person-centred counselling, which means our work is led by you. I see you as the expert in your own life, and I aim to provide a calm, confidential and supportive space where you can talk openly, explore what matters to you and feel truly heard—without judgement.

Experience

I began my career working with children and families in educational settings and later gained a Degree in Early Childhood Studies. Over more than 20 years, my work developed to include supporting families experiencing conflict and separation as they navigated the family court system.

These experiences deepened my understanding of childhood, and how early experiences can continue to influence adult relationships and emotional wellbeing later in life. Inspired by my own positive experience of therapy, I retrained and qualified as a counsellor—a path I had felt drawn to from a young age.

A genuine curiosity about people and their stories has always guided my work. Today, I offer a calm and compassionate place for others to talk. I aim to be a steady presence while you seek understanding and find a way through life’s difficult moments.

Outside the therapy room

Outside my therapeutic work, I enjoy gardening, running and spending time outdoors. These simple pleasures help me feel grounded, restored and connected.

How we can meet

Face-to-face, online or by telephone

I am based in Worsley, Greater Manchester. You are welcome to meet in person nearby, or to talk online or by telephone from anywhere in the UK.

Support

How therapy can help

These themes come from my counselling practice, my training, and my earlier work with children and families. They are areas of support, not a list of separate clinical specialisms. You do not need a diagnosis, or a neat description, before you get in touch.

  1. Childhood experiences and trauma

Space to talk about childhood trauma and the ways it can still be felt in adult life. This can include domestic abuse, post-traumatic stress and other trauma-related difficulties, at a pace that feels right for you.

  2. Relationships and family difficulties

Support while you make sense of relationships, family conflict, separation and difficult family dynamics, including experiences involving family court proceedings.

  3. Anxiety, wellbeing and life changes

Room to talk about anxiety, depression and life changes that leave you feeling unsteady. I also welcome neurodivergent people, and people living with addiction or substance-related difficulties.

  4. Work, stress and burnout

A place to talk about workplace stress, burnout and difficult professional relationships.

  5. Loss, health and caring responsibilities

Support around bereavement and loss, ill health and life-changing diagnoses, or the adjustment to becoming a carer for someone you love.
